The Days After

A web series documenting happenings in New York City public spaces after Donald Trump was elected president. One day after the 2017 elections, NYC streets were in uproar. Three days after, Artist Matthew "Levee" Chavez created Subway Therapy to help people express their feelings. As he says, “Lately, the project has evolved and I have been using sticky notes to give people an opportunity to transform their stress into something beautiful.” Messages of joy and sadness, anger and unity are observed on subway walls.

Neither this short film nor I are in any way related or associated with Subway Therapy or its creator Matthew "Levee" Chavez. The only statement that reflects Levees’ views in this piece is his own. Subway Therapy is a wonderful initiative where people have found a common space to let go and share their feelings and emotions. I appreciate and admire this initiative and thank those who participated in this short film, as well as Levee for being such an insightful and graceful host.
